Moving Pets to Cyprus

Planning to move your pets to Cyprus? You are allowed to bring in a maximum of 5 pets per person, which may include dogs, cats or ferrets and their minimum age should be above three months.

Your pet should have it’s EU Pet Passport (EUPP) and must have been treated against echinococcus and ectoparasites carried out no less than 24 hours and not more than 48 hours before shipment (noted on a certificate by the administering vet / else the pet is subject to one month in quarantine). You should also have an Animal Health Certificate in Greek or English. For non-EU listed countries, you must have an official country veterinary certificate for your pet!

The pet must be Rabies free, and for this the pet needs to have had it’s Rabies vaccination administered at least 30 days before the pet's arrival in Cyprus but not more than one year (If the pet is arriving from outside of the EU, it must be vaccinated and tested for three months and will be placed in quarantine for 6 months up on arrival in Cyprus).

Your pet must have an electronic identification system (microchip) or by a clearly readable tattoo. The tattoo will only be accepted as a means of identification until 3 July 2011.

The District Veterinary Station (where you plan to stay in Cyprus) must be clearly informed, at least 48 hours prior to moving pet to Cyprus, supplying the office with the date, time, location (port or airport) and flight or ship number. (The inspection will cost you between 40 to 60 Euros)

Prohibited breeds of Pets in Cyprus

You are not allowed to bring in AMERICAN PITBULL, PIT BULL TERRIER, JAPANESE TOSA, DOGO ARGENTINA or FILA BRA-SILEIRO into Cyprus!
